Student Docent/Gallery Guide Program
Proudly sponsored by CATLIN, the Bermuda National Gallery’s Student Docent Programme is a first class museum experience for students.
The Bermuda National Gallery is offering once again its FREE Student Docent Programme for those 12-13yrs and 14yrs+. Classes begin May 9, 2012.
Through this programme students have the opportunity to learn about art and art history, enhance their public speaking skills and meet local artist. They will also learn about contemporary art and culture, and how to give tours to their peers and the public. Students will earn community service hours upon giving tours. Classes are every Wednesday from 4:00pm-5:00pm. If interested in enrolling, you can contact our Education and Communications Officer, Dany Pen, at Tel: 295-9428.
The Student Docent Programme provides the tools to widen perceptions of the current exhibitions and permanent collections. While immersed in this programme, students will learn the process of guiding visitors through the Gallery as well as presenting collections and exhibitions. The philosophy behind our student docent programme is that each student comes to this opportunity already filled with a rich wealth of experience and knowledge that aids them in encouraging people of all ages to explore and discover through their interaction with art.
The Bermuda National Gallery’s Student Docent Program is a Duke of Edinburgh Approved Activity Provider. Consider engaging in community service through the arts at a museum/national gallery location.
