Largely self-taught, Marion Watlington-Vorley began painting in watercolours in the 1990s; it provided the perfect balance to a demanding career in medicine, and fulfilled her dream of being both doctor and artist. Her style is detailed, realistic and exacting. Each piece involves many hours and days to complete, and it immerses her in a meditative and healing trance.  The beauty of nature, the flora and fauna, being her favourite subjects, she focuses on the lights and shadows to create the moods she feels and sees.

Artist's statement

Marion finds her inspiration for art in the beauty of nature. It is there that she finds the peace and calm that allows her creativity to grow. Painting for Marion is a meditative process that, in turn, nourishes her spirit.
