Artist's statement

“'She was a hairy bear, she was a scary bear', is an ongoing series. Which is to say, since it’s inception about four years ago, I’ve been returning to it again and again. It is somewhat of an autobiographical series and, I feel, a completely feminist body of work. The work is centered around the use of my own hair, which carries for me, great symbolism in the emotional, social and hormonal lives of women."
